The first track from Chris' forthcoming Gar Hole Records debut, out summer 2021
From Chris:
"The album very much came out of lockdown, so as we pass the year mark of that it seemed like a fitting time to release the first single. I lived with my band mate Nikolai through the whole year, up until a couple months ago, so I was lucky to have someone to play music throughout the whole thing. At the start I remember thinking there would be a spike and it’d be over, and then New Orleans got slugged, and the tragedy, loss and severity of the pandemic took hold, and it was heartbreaking. So when I realized our duty was to stay at home, like for an indefinite amount of time, I really sank into the process of writing songs and playing them for sake of anything to do. Kinda staying sane or emotionally afloat by having a project. Me and Nikolai started making a cassette tape. I wrote songs and when I wasn’t writing, I revisited ones that needed touching up and we’d record them at night. Panicked and Paralyzed was almost done before covid and it was the first one completed in those first few weeks. It’s essentially a montage of day to day observations with a touch of self reflection, but to me it set off the streak that made the album come together, beginning with the tape demos made in Nikolai’s room."

I had the pleasure of seeing him perform live in San Diego in a very intimate set. His music just brings me a deep state of comfort, like listening to a friend.
